It’s 2025, which means commuting in shoes that give you blisters shouldn’t be a thing. You no longer have to sacrifice comfort for style. In honor of Fashion You’ll Actually Wear Week, our editors have rounded up 15 shoes you can wear on your commute, in the office, at post-work happy hours, and on the weekends. Later, foot pain.
Looking for more affordable, stylish clothes? Here’s what to wear when working, traveling, and playing — and picks for your kids, too.

A pair of loafers that feel like orthotics…
Hear us out: Just because these have an orthotic feel doesn’t mean that they aren't cute (or office-friendly). Our editors love Dr. Scholl’s shoes for their trendy silhouettes, attainable prices, and cloud-like comfort. These loafers have a cushioned, foam sole with arch support, so if you have minimal to no arch, these are the shoes for you. ($64.99, Dr. Scholl’s)

A sleeker version of Birkenstock’s Boston Clog…
If your work environment is on the casual side, these shoes are a must. They have the most comfortable contoured footbed, and the lack of hardware makes them slightly more elevated than other clogs on the market. I’ve walked for miles in these with no pain or rubbing, and I love that you can throw them in the washing machine. I’d buy them in the soft black color for a discrete shoe option for work. You’ll love them so much you won’t want to take them off. ($159, Rothy’s)

The shoe silhouette going viral…
Yes, boat shoes are back and we know it’s polarizing. But if you’re looking for a solid shoe option that isn’t a loafer or a ballet flat, you might want to give these a try. They’ll add a preppy look to every outfit and are extra cozy paired with some cashmere socks. ($168, Madewell)

A sandal that’s dressy enough for the hottest days…
On the days it’s too unbearable to even think about getting dressed for work, you’ll need a dependable pair of sandals. We love this pair from J.Crew for its chunky sole (so you don’t have to worry about your feet getting dirty), and the oversized buckle detailing. It comes in a suede version, but we prefer the leather style for longevity and durability. ($198, J.Crew)

A vintage take on a loafer…
When it comes to classic loafer styles, I’m good. But I’m still looking for a flat that’ll add a unique touch to my office outfits. I’ve been eyeing this pair from Sam Edelman for months for its T-strap style and gold buckle. I’m already picturing wearing these with some dark blue denim and a chunky sweater. ($71.90+, Nordstrom)

A classic pair of Mary Janes…
Another shoe trend from the past is back and better than ever. This ruched style feels modern, with leather that’s buttery soft. Wear these with everything from trousers and skirts to jeans and dresses. ($140, Dolce Vita)

Some retro sneakers that are a noteworthy Adidas swap…
If you’ve been trying to get your hands on some Adidas, but can’t find your size, might we suggest Gola? The brand has the same retro look and bright colorways. The Elan is our team’s favorite style thanks to its chunky gum sole and contrast laces. ($110, Anthropologie)

A dupe for boots from The Row…
Our Roman Empire: The Row’s Zippered Platform Booties and Steve Madden’s iconic behavior. Put those two things together and you’ve got these lug-sole boots under $150. I think these would be ideal when you want a pair to keep your feet dry without the look of a rain boot. ($129.95, Steve Madden)

Some loafers you’d never guess came from Lands’ End…
Lands’ End is so back…and Skimmr’s can’t get enough. We’re currently eyeing these chain-detailed loafers. They look expensive, add a statement to the most basic work outfits, and have a rubberized outsole that'll keep the pressure off the balls of your feet. ($149.95, Lands’ End)

A pair of flats that look like heels…
One of the biggest gaps in my closet is flats that look like heels. By this, I mean that the flats have a distinct silhouette that makes them look fancy without the discomfort. The strappy block heels from Franco Sarto do just that, and I love that the heel is under an inch. ($125, Nordstrom)

Heeled boots worth the investment…
You can never go wrong with a pair of knee-high boots. You can wear them with skirts during transitional seasons for added warmth and layer them with tights once it really cools down. They have an almond-shaped toe to elongate your legs, and the heel is just under 2.5 inches. ($250, Shopbop)

A budget-friendly pair of block heels under $50…
Don’t forget: Old Navy has shoes. This faux-leather pair is just begging to be worn with a cool pair of trousers and a basic tee. They have a slingback closure and its pointed shape adds a structured touch. Not to mention, the thick block heel makes them comfortable for all-day wear. ($44.99, Old Navy)

A pair leaning into one of fall’s biggest trends…
Cow print is about to be everywhere and we mean everywhere. You don’t need to spend a ton to try the trend, and in fact, we’d encourage you not to. These Mary Janes from Gap are under $100 and would pair well with cream pants. ($69.95, Gap)

Kitten heels you’ll never get sick of…
A basic black pair of kitten heels are a closet staple, so they’re worth the investment. You can wear them countless ways at all kinds of occasions, from weddings to networking events. This pair from Ann Taylor is made of a glossy, patent leather. The gold buckles and extra straps make them feel not-so-grandma-like, which we love. ($168, Ann Taylor)

Sneakers you can wear to the office…
Sneakers at the office might be controversial depending on where you work, but this pair from Reformation is a great option no matter the dress code. Because the silhouette is sleek and the design is completely monochromatic, they come across as a ballet flat. They’re definitely on the pricier side, but if you’re so sick of shoes feeling uncomfortable, they’re worth it. Plus, you can wear them outside the office, too. ($198, Reformation)
