I don’t know about you, but for me, December isn’t just the season of giving — it’s the season of overgiving. Between holiday parties, kid chaos, and trying to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year, I’m seriously feeling the “festive burnout.” Actually, scratch that. I’m just exhausted. And worse? I’ve noticed myself turning that exhaustion into a badge of honor. I’m bonding with friends over how little sleep I’ve gotten — instead of, you know, getting to the root of the problem. And it’s not just the holidays, and not just a me thing. It’s not even an American thing. Reportedly 55% of Brits are tired all the time. Australia is totally knackered. Like espresso martinis and the Eras Tour, exhaustion has gone global, and I’m over it. So instead of waiting until January 1 to resolve to get more sleep, I’m going to start now. Here’s the plan:
Try this viral TikTok hack that’s simultaneously more stimulating and relaxing than counting sheep.
If that doesn’t work, attempt the “alpha bridge” trick, thought to be developed by the US Navy for pilots in need of rest.
Bypass the eggnog in favor of a “sleepy girl mocktail.”
If all else fails? Plan a “sleepcation” at one of these destinations where all the action (there is none) takes place in bed.

We Have To Talk About…

What Energized Us
It’s been a year. But rather than focus exclusively on how zapped we all are, we thought we’d also highlight the things from 2024 that surprised, delighted, and — dare we say — motivated us. Motivation? Hey girl, haven’t seen you in years.
📚 All Fours, by Miranda July. Reframing perimenopause as a delicate balance of demand and desire, this novel lit up our book clubs, group chats, imaginations, and fantasies. Plus, it made us genuinely excited about what's next — both for our bodies and for the stories we tell about them.
🍳 What Goes With What, by Julia Turshen. This “cookbook” isn’t about following recipes — it’s about turning whatever’s in your fridge into a five-minute meal. Think: smart pairings, mix-and-match proteins, sauces, and crunchy toppings that’ll actually satisfy you.
🧊 Cold-plunge benefits? Dubious. Bragging rights? Endless.
🐶 Inside the Mind of a Dog on Netflix. Because “survival of the friendliest” sounds like a get-ahead strategy that just feels good.
🦛 Moo Deng vs this other hippo. More polling like this in 2025, please.

For the friend who sends texts at 11:30 pm. And 3 am. And 6 am …
When it comes to getting more sleep, it’s all in the details. Step one: the Hug Sleep, aka an adult swaddle. Arms tucked in, no late-night scrolling possible. Step two: an Ostrichpillow Loop Eye Pillow to block out the world. Step three: If they must have some presleep stimulation, a paper crossword puzzle. What’s a seven-letter word for “blissed-out”? Relaxed. It’s relaxed. Finally!
